A little about Soquel
Soquel is a relatively small vacation and resort town found near the Pacific Coast of California. Soquel has a population of approximately five thousand one hundred residents and is technically considered a census designated place of Santa Cruz County. Although local lore alleges that the name Soquel comes from a bartender screaming “Soak Hell” at a customer, the actual origin of the name is the local tribe of Native Americans, the Soquel Indians. Soquel has a number of residential sections as well, many of which offer outstanding views of the regional redwood forests, the scenic coastline, and the mountains. The educational needs of this pleasant town are met by Soquel High School, Soquel Elementary School, Main Street Elementary School, Tara Redwood School, Mountain Elementary School, Beach High School, Susun Gallery Art School, Merit Academy, Soquel Nursery School, and the University of California, Santa Cruz. Soquel is located near the Pacific Ocean and Monterey Bay, making recreational activities such as swimming, surfing, boating, fishing, sun bathing, sightseeing, snorkeling, and body boarding. In addition to having plenty of things to see and do, Soquel boasts an excellent location, convenient access to attractions, and generally pleasant weather throughout the majority of the year.
