A little about La Selva Beach

La Selva Beach is a very small, unincorporated community found in Santa Cruz County. La Selva Beach has a population of approximately five hundred, and falls within the boundaries of the larger population center of Aptos. La Selva Beach has a name that literally means “The Jungle” Beach when translated from Spanish, most likely referring to the considerable amount of fog that often obscures this tranquil village. La Selva Beach is located right on the Pacific Ocean, facilitating not just incredible views and easy access to the surf and sands, but also to a wide range of recreational activities, including swimming, surfing, boating, fishing, sun bathing, and diving.

La Selva Beach has a strong Scottish heritage, and encompasses the namesake La Selva Beach Park as well as Manresa State Beach Park. One recreational site that is not on the waterfront is Triangle Park, which has all of the country flags in the world in addition to a horseshoe pit. Nearby schools include the Aptos Academy, Rio Del Mar Elementary School, and Monterey Bay Academy. Attractions located near La Selva Beach include the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Big Sur Coastline, and Carmel.
